More Hiking Around Logan
After Morten and I got stuck in 2 middle seats from Boston to Phoenix on Southwest and then connecting to Salt Lake on New Year's day, we were in need of stretching our legs. We decided to check out another trail just outside of Logan that we hadn't yet tried. I don't remember the name of the trail, but I though this Warning sign post that we saw on the fence bordering the trail was quite interesting...
Did you see there is a bullet hole through the sign? Guess someone doesn't like that! Its certainly 1 way to express disagreement!
While walking on the trail we saw several deer munching on the low lying bushes. At one area of the fence there is a big area of fence that is blow/torn down. The fence originally was there to prevent the deer from browsing on agricultural crops. But since agricultural production has dropped in recent years though, the need for the fence is much less and thus the fence is checked and maintained much less.
As we approached this big gap in the fencing we saw this set of ears sticking out of the low brush.
In fact there were 2 deer there, but you can't see the 2nd one in the picture. By the time I notice there were 2 and tried to get a pic we had startled them and they ran off, practically right by us and up the mountain. They were so close! It was really cool.
One of the amazing things in Logan is the gorgeous sunsets that we are treated too as a result of the mountain landscape. Lots of pink and orange sunsets. I included the fence and power line on the border of this pic so you would believe this is a photo and NOT a painting.
After a big snow storm a week or so later we took a short hike up Logan Dry Canyon again and got into an area of Oak trees beautifully covered with snow.
