Day Three Angkor Wat - Sunset at Phnom Bakheng

It seemed fitting at the end of my three day pass to see an Angkor Wat sunset to complement the New Years Day sunrise. The most popular spot (read: jammed like a Tokyo subway car-like crowds) to see the sunset in the temple complex is Phnom Bakheng built in the early 10th century. The reason it is the best place is its high location which requires a 15-20 min rather steep uphill walk to get to, for lazy folks or those with extra cash to burn you can alternatively ride and elephant up to the top.

Even the monks come for this view!

Dusk light just before sunset.

Sunset with the ruins.

The twilight rising moon.
