Copenhagen Winter Wonderland!
My experience last winter in Copenhagen was that if snow fell it rarely lasted on the ground more than 24 hours, an usually did not accumulate at all. Instead, the weather is mainly rainy, occassionally sleet, and plenty of wind.
A few weeks ago we got 3-5 inches (maybe more) of snow that stuck around for a week or so of below zero (celcius) temperatures. That doesn't sound very bad or terrible to the New Englanders reading this, but then YOU have cars to zip around town in. I have a BIKE and biking in the snow is not very fun. The worst part is that the snow, especially the big flakes feel like they are stabbing you as you bike against them in the windy weather and on icy bike lanes...sounds like fun doesn't it? Then there is the issue of the bike lock getting frozen, not fun either.
Here is a photo of the snow in my neighborhood. The 2nd building on the right is the one where I live.
This is a pic I like of some snow covered benches near the canal.
In downtown Copenhagen there are four man-made lakes that are rectangle shape with roads and housing lining them. This is a pic of one of the lakes I often go by on the way to the university in Copenhagen.
This is a nice photo of one of the churches in Christianshavn, a rather trendy neighborhood of Copenhagen. This is taken from a park area where people often go running.
Although there wasn't very much snow by Maine standards, kids still tried to make the most of it and went sledding anyway on the tiny hills at the park. They might not to get the chance to try again for a few years, so its now or never (at least in a kids timeframe of thinking :-).
