Hita Town

After Yamagawa we were off to Hita Town with its "little Kyoto" neighborhood. The town is known for good, thick and tasty soy sauce. I bought some and can tell you it is delish with toasted mochi (pounded rice). I also tried an old kind of Japanese soda there where you have to sort of slam the cap down to release the carbonation. There is a marble inside the bottle which if you don't drink it at the right angle then you can get any soda out, clever. Yoko said back in the old days kids would find the bottles lying around and break them to get the marble out to play with.
The coincidental woman-focussed theme of our trip followed us to Hita which is also know for its girls day dolls and decorations. There was a special exhibition in a 200 year old house of girls day figurines from many decades ago. We got there only a few days before it was closing! The garden shot here is taken in that old house.
