Spring Meandering in Hareskov

As part of an effort to get out of the city and into a greener place at least once a week M and I caught a train, with bikes in tow, outside of Copenhagen to Hareskov (Hare Forest). Its a huge expansive green area with a lake, fields, and lots of forest. Morten wanted to take his sweet mountain bike out for a ride, my bike on the other hand is a little less...robust, less suitable for off-roading - but I made it just fine :-)

After biking up a rather long hill we were greeted with this beautiful raps field!

Here is me in the field on the way back down to the lake.

After biking down near the lake, it was back into the forest. Here is a very typical looking Danish forest, beech trees and a pretty carpet of flowers.

I also found out what "gammeldavs is" means. 'Gammeldavs' means 'old-fashioned', 'is' means ice cream. So gammeldavs is is old fashioned ice cream, which apparently means ice cream on a cone with whipped cream on the top and then a squirt of jam on top of that. Jam on top of ice cream, a bit strange but...tasty.

On the way back to the train station it was a nice ride through a wetland area that had some nice bike trails through it, including some quaint bridges like this one. For those of you living in Copes, take your bike to Lyngby and check this area out.
