BKK Before Returning to Tokyo - Early Dec '06

Our flights were both out of BKK so we had a few days to hit some remaining tourist sights in the big city before leaving.

A trip to Thailand wouldn't be complete with out a trip to the King's Palace and the Buddhist temple adjacent to it. The entry fee (400 Baht = $10) though a bit steep was worth it. Personally I found the temple more interesting than the palace. The signs say no sandals, no shorts, and that shoulders must be covered. This is a tall order in a city where temps are often between 28-32C (high 80's - low 90's F). We did our best to comply though its clear that, like many rules in Thailand, these too could be bent. Here are some pics of the temple.

The detail in the artwork on these buildings is amazing.

While exploring the temple grounds we were interviewed by some students practising their English. One question was, what do you think is the best thing about Thailand? My answer, the fruit shakes!
